How to Start a Chapter
It’s My Heart is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which provides support to and advocates for those affected by Acquired and Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). Through awareness, resources, and education, IMH creates alliances and networks among families, groups, hospitals, and the community. Creating chapters of IMH throughout the country is imperative to our ability in achieving our mission.
The first prerequisites are commitment, passion and the desire to help those affected by Acquired and Congenital Heart Disease. We will help you get started in this important endeavor and be there every step of the way. IMH is a 501c3 and gladly extends our Group Exemption to all chapters, thereby providing a strong foundation for each chapter’s success.
Some of the current chapter objectives are to:
- Create an ongoing relationship with children’s hospitals by implementing programs, such as Comfort Bags, Backpack Buddies, Care Packages, Legacy Boxes, and Special Family Holiday Events.
- Hold Annual IMH Keep The Beat CHD Awareness Walks to spread awareness and raise funds supporting our mission.
- Distribute CHD literature to doctor’s offices and hospitals.
- Provide events in local communities for families affected by CHD.
- Award scholarships to aid those taking classes for the medical care of those affected by CHD.
- Aid researchers’ projects with outreaching to families affected by CHD.
- Seek new opportunities to support the goals of It’s My Heart.
