Fundraising
Want to help further our mission? Is your local church group, Girl or Boy Scouts Troup or community looking for something nice to do? Help us raise the funds needed to raise awareness. There doesn’t have to be an IMH Chapter in your area to raise funds for a good cause, nor do you have to wait on a fundraiser to come around. Here are a few ideas for a successful fundraiser:
Garage/Yard/Junk Sales
Everyone has odds and ends they are looking to get rid of. Call everyone you know and ask them to donate their “junk”. What’s one man’s trash is another man’s treasure! Be sure to check with your city and see if you need a permit to do this. Post signs and get as creative as your heart desires!
Bake Sales
No one can resist a homemade treat! These sales are popular at schools, stores, hospitals and craft booths. People love to know their sweet tooth helped a good cause!
Loose Change
Put jars out to collect loose change. Get creative or just buy a piggy bank.
Spaghetti Dinner
Find a place and set a date for a dinner to remember. This is cheap and easy to do with a few volunteers. Give your dinner a cute name and print out tickets. Choose a price to charge and sell tickets to family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and churches. Change it up and make it breakfast instead with heart shape pancakes or waffles.
Blue Jean Day
Collaborate with your school or work about having people donate $1, $2, $5 towards being able to wear blue jeans for a day. This is a great way to spread awareness as you advertise this effort.
Auction
These are wonderful ways to raise money! Whether silent or live, auctions always get the community interested in participation. Write a letter explaining your cause and ask friends, family, and stores to donate items. Set a date, time and place for the auction. To make it special, add a theme to it such as “Bid for Hearts”.
Car Wash
Believe it or not, these can generate over $1,000.00 easy. This is a wonderful way to get teens active and in the community and thinking about someone besides themselves. No matter how old you are, community service is always fulfilling. Gather some sponges, buckets, water hoses and soap from the dollar store. Many businesses love to hold these on their property as it brings positive attention to their place of business. Grab a few posters and be amazed!
