Heart Autograph Pillow

With Congenital Heart Defects affecting all ages, we have Autograph Heart Pillows placed inside Comfort Bags as a keepsake. Patients can shadowbox this piece or use it as decoration on a piece of furniture. We encourage seamstresses to be creative with the shape of the heart but to use ONLY SOLID RED fabric. The reason for limiting this to a red fabric is because this is an appropriate color for both male and female. You are welcome to add trim outside of the heart but please do not cover the space of the heart so patients have enough room for all the wonderful medical staff and friends to autograph. It’s My Heart will distribute these to patients receiving open heart surgery, surgical intervention or in critical care inside hospital’s Intensive Care Units. Here are some ideas for different shaped hearts:

DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE AUTOGRAPH HEART PILLOW:

STEP 1 Wash and press two pieces of RED fabric measuring 16” x 20”.

STEP 2 Pin or trace pattern on the RED fabric (pattern already has included ½” for seam).

STEP 3 With RED fabric right sides together, stitch all sides leaving a 2” opening to turn inside out and stuff pillow with cotton.

STEP 4 Turn right side out and press.

STEP 5 Stuff with fiberfill and stitch opening closed by hand or machine.
