YOU ARE YOUR CHILD’S #1 ADVOCATE.
If your child has surgery or treatment in a hospital, quite often you will see many IV’s and lines as a result. Be sure you know what everything is and why it is necessary. Have your nurse explain it to you and be sure they double check themselves. You are your child’s advocate.
Always know you have the right to ask questions of your doctor. It is their responsibility to make sure you understand and feel comfortable with the choices being made for your child. You are your child’s advocate.
It is our responsibility to get involved with our political leaders on both the local, state and national level. Let them know that you are their constituent and you have a voice in regards to legislation that affects you and your family. You are your child’s advocate.
We provide this link for you to click on and enter your home address to retrieve a list of your National Government officials and representatives. You are advocating for your child’s future.
We have created a Daily Progress Report which will enable you to stay on top of your child’s care during your Hospital stay. This is a vital tool which enables you, your child’s #1 Advocate, to stay on top of every aspect of Hospitalization. For example, think about a month down the road after discharge when you are trying to remember what happened on the day a certain medication caused your child to break out in a rash, all you have to do is consult the It’s My Heart Daily Progress Report you faithfully completed, and you have your hand written account of events at your fingertips.
